On September 13, Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), visited Cosin Solar's 350MW tower CSP project in Golmud, Qinghai. He was accompanied by Gong Heping, consultant at the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI); Zhao Liangying, deputy director of the Qinghai Provincial Energy Administration; Lu Bin, vice governor of Haixi Prefecture; and Ren Laijun, vice mayor of Golmud. Li Wei, vice president of Cosin Solar, hosted the delegation.

The delegation toured the construction site and inspected the installation of core equipment, including heliostats, the receiver tower and molten-salt tanks. Li Wei presented the project overview, construction plan and progress, and highlighted the technical innovations of the 350MW large-capacity CSP plant.

During a roundtable discussion, the two sides exchanged views on China's CSP industry development and planning, Qinghai's CSP practices and goals, and how Chinese CSP technology can support the global energy transition. They focused on the Golmud 350MW project's peak-shaving operation model, CSP's technical advantages and system value, cost-reduction pathways, and comparisons with PV plus electrochemical energy storage.

Both sides reached positive consensus on advancing global CSP technology and strengthening international exchange and cooperation. Francesco La Camera said China's experience in CSP technology R&D, equipment manufacturing and large-scale project construction provides valuable lessons for the global energy transition, and fully recognized Cosin Solar's technological innovation and engineering achievements in CSP. Li Wei said Cosin Solar looks forward to deepening cooperation with IRENA and global energy partners to promote CSP technology worldwide and contribute Chinese wisdom and solutions to the global energy transition.

Also present were Gurbuz Gonul, director of IRENA's Country Engagement and Partnerships Division; Lei Xiang, deputy director; Liu Shuangxi, engineer at the International Business Department of CREEI; Xiao Tianli, director of the New Energy Division of the Qinghai Provincial Energy Administration; Zou Haixiang, principal staff member; Dou Pengtao, official; Ma Chaocheng, deputy director of the Haixi Prefecture Energy Bureau; and Shen Jieshan, director of the Golmud Municipal Energy Bureau. Tang Yaping, vice president of engineering projects and deputy chief engineer of Cosin Solar, and Xu Ruiyang, technical assistant to the chief scientist, also participated.
