Wind/PV/CSP Thermal Storage Hybrid Power Plant Overview
The wind/PV/CSP hybrid power plant comprises of a CSP power plant, PV power plant and wind power plant. If needed, an electric heater can be installed to store the curtailed PV or wind power into the MSES system. By optimizing the generation mode of the plants and through the storage system, the CSP power plant will provide peaking or frequency regulation services to the grid in addition to ensure a continuous and stable electrical output.
Operational Mode
In the operation of wind/PV/CSP hybrid power plant, CSP generator set provides low-carbon peak power and long-term energy storage services.
When PV or wind power is at its peak production, CSP power stops generating electricity or runs at a low load and only charge storage. When PV or wind power output runs low or stops, the MSES system of CSP starts to operate full load to generate electricity to satisfy the peak demand.
In addition, the MSES system can be used to store curtailed energy from PV or wind to make full use of the renewable energy. Wind/PV/CSP can work jointly as a whole system to provide power.
